How many daily visitors do you get on average?

statsI guarantee that’s a question any blogger out there could answer without thinking.  We can become so obsessed with adding to our visitor counter that we can move away from why we started to blog in the first place.

I read two great posts today – one from Brody Harper and the other from Mark Lee.  I don’t think they planned it, but both have posted more or less on the same topic.

Brody is annoyed at record companies asking silly questions about visitors – do the figures indicate unique visitors or returning visitors?  Isn’t the whole point of a blog to grow a community?  Doesn’t the health of a blog depend on returning visitors?  We also want the community to expand, but we don’t want to loose anyone in the process.

Mark talks about how we can fall into the trap of just trying (and striving) to get people to drop on to our blogs, but not really having the content here to keep them interested.  As bloggers we must really try to improve the quality of our articles and blog from our ‘expertise’ to keep it authentic.

I guess I have been challenged a little by these two posts today.  It’s time to concentrate on improving my writing and start blogging on issues that effect me and the worship community in general.
