God is still MY Healer!

I was angry today when I heard the news.  I shared the story of Healer on a couple of occasions, close to tears.  Today I find out it was not true.  Why would someone make up a story like that?  What could his motive possibly be?  How did he think it would never be found out?  Time will tell I guess.

I will say that I believe God is still my healer – and I’m not lying about that.  God has healed issues in my body and the same is true for many other people I know.  The words of this song still ring true even though they were launched with the help of a lie.

  1. Yeah. This is a crazy story. One more punch in the gut for the church. I think we’ve got some major soul-searching to do.

    My thoughts – http://www.chrisfromcanada.com/?p=710

  2. THAT I agree with COMPLETELY! God is still my healer. My wife has had 2 miracles; a girl in my church had her heart HEALED from a lifelong degenerative disease; I’ve had my own healing from shingles (and no, I’m not a senior citizen).

    God IS my Healer.

I still think God doesn’t need our help to prove that He is good. That’s what angers me about the whole thing. God is still good though. Despite this story AND DEFINITELY despite me – God is good.

  3. You know brother I think many people were rocked by this news today. Yet when I take one step back and think about the fact that God used all sorts of people throughout scripture to deliver his TRUTH. I believe, no matter what the circumstances that the words of “Healer’ are truth. The unfortunate circumstances surrounding the story, the video and the mess that was today are what they are. So often I am reminded that the only difference between someone that falls in the public eye and me is that, well, they are in the public eye. I honestly pray Gods grace and mercy on Mike for his unfortunate choices. I pray that “Healer” can continue to be a source of strength and outreach for many people around the world. I also pray that this doesn’t effect the downloading and sales of this incredible worship CD. It has blessed me.

I guess that’s what truth does. Praise God right?

  4. I was at Starbucks tonight with some friends, and passed on a free copy of This is our God to my mate. I told the Healer story and we chatted about worship, God etc etc
We came home, i flipped up the mac and saw Brody Harper blog about the latest news about this! I felt like id been kicked in the stomach, i actually yelled a bit!

After reading a few posts i dropped in here, and thanks man for reminding me that God is my healer and despite the lie, the words of this song are true.

  5. It is crazy how many people God used for his purposes. No matter where we are in our life, God can and likely will use us.
Think about this: Judas was used.

Mike G. didn’t do anything as bad as Judas did by selling our Savior for measly coins but God has still used his song to touch people throughout the world. I pray that God will show Mike all about his grace in this time.

  6. exactly snowdude…
and hmm didnt know you were reading the czar…how did you find his blog?

  7. Alastair,
Hope you’ll pardon the scattered thoughts and some copy/paste commenting … I’m trying to comment on some of these blogs that have linked back to my own. Much has transpired today, I’ve spent a good bit of time in prayer and worship, thinking of this situation.

Overall, it’s disappointing. By the end of the day, I start wondering if Mike wasn’t delusional at this point – I mean, I’ve watched that video over and over the past months. Even knowing the hoax, I still watch it and identify so strongly. I typically have a high level of discernment, yet I watch and it seems so authentic. Maybe he really was believing this lie, or part of him.

The song – I still love it, though it’s somewhat tainted with this tragic revelation. But, God wasn’t surprised. Maybe He knew … Maybe He knew that we, the Church, needed this song. Maybe THAT’s WHY his favor seemed to rest on that song so strongly. Maybe it’s a reminder that God can (and will) use any vessel to communicate … even the weak, or people and ways that confound the wise and religious.

Many, many questions. I’m sad, disappointed, but in the end …. I BELIEVE YOU’RE MY HEALER. I BELIEVE YOU ARE ALL I NEED. AMEN.

  8. @klampert – czar found me! Should I not read his blog? Is he weird? ;-)

  9. I’m getting lots of angry comments on my YouTube healer video!!

Some are folk telling me to donate all the money I’ve earned from the song to charity! ;-)

I’m considering disabling the comments, or pulling the video. I’ve looked around at other healer covers and they are getting the same abuse.

People are funny. I wish they’d read sometimes.

  10. wow thats crazy man…

  11. I added your link in on my list as well..

by the way the chat was only announced on twitter..and anybody who got on announced it…so you are still cool…just didnt see the tweet! :)

  12. Yeah, I figured that… I’m cutting back on Twitter. I need to get some work done….! Now this whole thing blows up instead. Too many distractions!

  13. Not cool about the abuse on YouTube Alastair… I just don’t get people…!

I know how great a song “Healer” is… but it’s not Mike’s only song… he has written so many others, many of which I believe are as good or better than “Healer”… he couldn’t possibly be looking for fame as he is already well known (most, if not all of Planetshakers song are written by him)… it just baffles me…

But there’s a warning in this to us all in ministry. We are gifted by God, but it’s so easy to stray… whether we become delusional, or we allow vanity to take over… How much more do we need to have people around us… mentors; good, solid friends; people who can hold us accountable and keep us on track in completing His work…

I’m with you Fred… I’m disappointed… but I join you in the AMEN!

  14. Yes, Alastair I’m weird. There is only one cool blogger in Middletown/Newport, RI – and that’s Joel. You should read me though. LOL!

The discussion continues on my blog, too. Feel free to read my follow up responses.

  15. well said my friend. Grace Always Wins.

  16. Thanks for the link love Alastair. I’ll be doing the same.

  17. No problem. Thanks czar.

  18. Thanks for your thoughts.

I do find it stricking how people have thrown this song out. Its still amazing. And its still has healing worlds…

Here were my thoughts on it. http://justinthesouth.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/preacher-faked-terminal-illness/

  19. hey man…thanks for stopping by and thanks for the link love. I’ll put you on mine. God bless.

  20. Beautiful song … but very sad on that’s it’s not true. Like somone said another hit in the gut for the church. Lets pray that somehow God still uses this song for his good.

  21. I’ve heard a lot of people clutching at straws, speculating that the song is still true, but it’s about Mike’s battle with his own psychological demons.

It was, and it remains to be, a beautiful song that is biblically correct.

The story behind the song? I don’t think it matters so much.

  22. I believe God can still use the song to touch lives, because ultimately He is the Healer.

We do not know why Mike Guglielmucci lie as he did, but we musn’t judge God based on a man’s mistakes, even if he is a pastor. And neither must we judge Mike G, because he is only MAN, not God, and is therefore likely to sin.

But God still used him as a vessel, to create a beautiful song, Healer. So all we can do now, is to pray for him and his family and the entire church, that even in this, God will cause all things to work out for good. (Romans 8:28)

    Cheers!

  23. OK, I’m late to the party, but I thought Kari Jobe wrote that song. My bad. I just heard it by her and then the Daystar singers. It’s a great song.
