Mind Mapping

I wanted to draw your attention to an excellent online tool called MindMeister.  It’s a mind mapping tool which Amanda introduced me to recently.  We are using it to record ideas for a possible Celtic themed worship night.  I was impressed at how effective this is at helping us brainstorm and that both of us were able to update the map simultaneously.

I can think of other areas where this tool would be great – writing songs, writing books, preparing sermons, planning video/creative sequences, etc.

  1. i came across that as well… it’s quite a neat little tool! for creative/visual thinkers especially.

any time i find a new tool/toy, it sparks my creativity!

  2. Celtic worship night? That sounds interesting… Was the idea based off of anything else?

  3. Hi Casey, it was all Amanda’s idea. It’s still in the very early planning stage.

  4. @Casey: The idea came because I love Irish music & also love listening to the different feel that contemporary worship has over in Britain & Ireland. They often use what they have available instrument-wise, which means guitars, whistles, flutes, fiddles, etc. Think Robin Mark, Brian Doerksen, etc. I wish I knew more names for examples but I don’t. I’ve heard mostly things on the radio & they never tell you who it is. :( You could call it contemporary praise & worship music with a Celtic/British/Irish feel for… short? Ha ha.

In our town, Celtic & types of music that stemmed from this are common, so we’re hoping it brings these folks too to check it out!

@all: I love the mind mapping tools! GTD like (”getting things done”) but more visual than just a list. Wish I had more reasons to use it. :) There’s also a program called FreeMind, which you can import/export to MindMeister. I haven’t used it yet, but probably will eventually.
