Avoid Amadeus. Not worth it. Disgusting sick sensual stuff (that we did not even bother to finish watching) and not reality to Mozart. Kramer vs Kramer I seem to remember as being a good watch – but I also remember some language!!
I’ve been told that American Beauty was great.
I can personally vouch for A Beautiful Mind and Million Dollar Baby.
American Beauty is a modern day classic that works on so many levels. I fail to understand why you don’t like it. Now Chicago, that’s another story altogether. Waste of 2 hours of my life that I won’t get back
Hi Neil, I didn’t say Chicago was brilliant, it was ok.
I watch movies for entertainment. American Beauty was not entertaining in my opinion. I was not comfortable at all with the various elements of this story. I don’t like Kevin Spacey either. It’s a bit of a girly term, but I think he is creepy.
The film is very well put together and I can see why the “critics” love it. However, after all the hype and watched this film and I didn’t like it and that’s all there is to it.
Mud, if you get round to watching it I’d be interested to hear what you thought of it.
And Bryan – thanks for your comments. I’m not sure I can be bothered seeking out and watching those pre-86 films. I’ve enough to get on with as it is!
Haha that’s funny you just came out and blew off Beautiful Mind and English Patient! Yeah, English Patient..eh…but I thought Beautiful Mind was good! However, simply for entertainment value you may not like it. You also may not like Million Dollar Baby either. Depends on what you call “entertainment.”
Hi Conner… I know I should give these films a chance, but when I know the general plot it’s hard to bring myself to watch them, or imagine them being entertaining. Maybe I’m being too judgemental?
